On Thursday 4th April 2019, Furnley House hosted it’s first ever charity golf day. As well as being an enjoyable day out, the purpose of the day was to raise funds for our chosen charity, Alex’s Wish.
Alex’s Wish is a fantastic charity that is working hard to help find a cure to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
The day took place at Kirby Muxloe Golf Club and involved teams of four competing to win tickets to this year’s FA Cup Final. As well as the cup final tickets, there were also trophies awarded on the day for the winners, wooden spoon and the individual who landed his tee-shot nearest the pin.
Lovely weather for a golf day
The day commenced at 9am with coffee, bacon rolls and pre-tournament briefing. Teams then made their way to the first hole with the first team tee-ing off at 10am. By 11am all teams were up and running on the course.
Whilst the day started dry, as the afternoon arrived, so too did the rain clouds. Just as the first team were approaching the 17th hole, the clouds opened and down came the rain. Unfortunately for those teams who teed-off last, not only did they have the course to contend with, but also the weather.
By 3pm, all teams had completed their round of golf and were back in the clubhouse enjoying a much deserved (and needed) warm meal!
The winners of the first ever Furnley House golf day was a team captained by Senior Financial Planner (& Director) at Furnley House, Neil Haley. Here’s a picture of the winning team:
We would like to thank all those who participated. In 2020 we will be looking to host another charity golf day, with even more teams taking part. If you would like to be one of those teams, please get in touch.
