Furnley House often get involved in local, charitable events. Spreading the word to help raise awareness for our chosen charities and raising funds along the way.

Our overarching goal is to make a difference to our local community

George Simpson, one of our Independent Financial Advisers, is our latest member of the team fundraising for local charities. He and David Grey from Oakwrights Ltd are taking their challenge further afield…

Cycling Challenge

George has taken on the challenge to cycle from Calais, France to Torrevieja, Spain.

A journey of over 1,000 miles, they plan to complete it by cycling for 10 days and are hoping their efforts will raise over £1,000 for the LOROS and Myton Hospices.

1,000 miles in 10 days…

A quick calculation will tell you that every day they will be covering 100 miles!

To cover this distance, they anticipate leaving at 8am every morning and are unlikely to get off their bikes until at least 6pm each evening.

The Challenge

Not only will they have to contend with the thought of 100 miles each day, but they will also be carrying all their clothes and equipment with them, naturally increasing the weight of the bikes making it more tiring to cycle.

Part of the route includes the Pyrenees, where they will be climbing some of the mountains. To add to the physical challenge, the weather in Spain exceeds 35 degrees this time of year.

Both George and David will undoubtedly have very sore legs by the last day if not sooner!

Our Community

LOROS is a hospice in Leicester and Myton Hospices care for people close to our Leamington Spa office. They both provide support to those at the end of their lives and their families and pride themselves on their high quality and compassionate care.

Without donations, neither of these hospices would be able to offer the level of services to as many people as they do. If you would like to support George, David and these fantastic charities, you can do so here. Or if you’d like to send any tips and advice or words of encouragement to help them on their way, please leave a comment on any of our social media pages.
