Leicester IFA firm put on an incredible show raising over £30,000 in one night for local charity, Alex’s Wish!

On Saturday 23rd June the Furnley House team put on a spectacular evening at Winstanley House and raised an incredible amount for a local charity. Over 160 guests enjoyed a drinks reception, great food and fabulous entertainment all evening.

Partnering with chosen charity, Alex’s Wish

12 months ago, Managing Director of Furnley House, Stefan Fura met Emma Hallam, founder of the charity and Mum to Alex, after whom the charity – Alex’s Wish is named. He was incredibly inspired and moved by their story and chose to partner with Alex’s Wish in 2018.

Stefan said, “Earlier this year, Furnley House celebrated its fifth birthday party with its staff and collectively we all agreed that we wouldn’t be where are without our families and clients. So we decided to put on an event for the Furnley House community to celebrate our successes and make a big difference to Alex’s Wish. We chose to cover the cost of the event so we could ensure that all proceeds from ticket sales went straight to charity.  With the addition of some key partners such as B Audio Visual, we were able to enhance the night even further by adding some great entertainment!”

Tara from B Audio Visual was pleased to support the event, she said:

“As part of our corporate social responsibility policy, we choose a charity partner each year to work closely to enhance their events and take them to the ‘next level’ meaning what they would usually spend on AV and décor can go straight back into the charity. This year, we chose to work with Alex’s Wish, and we were delighted to support the Furnley House Summer Ball.”

The Summer Ball was inspired by the Summer Solstice, San Juan celebrations in Spain and the entire Furnley House team got involved in planning this spectacular event. It took place at the stunning Winstanley House in Leicester and included a 3-course meal, drinks, entertainment, a raffle and a live charity auction.

The entertainment kicked off with the team from Flambé Circus on stilts greeting guests during the drinks reception before Andy Miller took to the stage to remind guests to take part in the raffle to win fantastic prizes such as a tour around Leicester City Football Club, A Leicester Tigers shirt, Moet and Chandon plus loads more!

Alongside the raffle, there was a silent auction run by WonderLand Memorabilia which included a signed Alistair Cook shirt, a stay at Winstanley House, Garden furniture from Next, Club Wembley tickets with a champagne reception, a P&O cruise, a Pandora earring and necklace set and plenty of other fantastic prizes.

Once dinner had been served, Andy Miller hosted the live auction with more star prizes such as a signed portrait of Paul Gascoigne, a dinner party for 10 people hosted by Steve Tremblay and a football signed by the England football team.

It was a fantastic night

Guests were then guided outside onto the terrace to watch a fabulous fire show by the extraordinary fire dancers from Flambe Circus and then wowed by the firework show of the year from Leicester Fireworks!

Stefan Fura, Managing Director of Furnley House commented on the Ball saying,

“We were really pleased that before we even sat down on Saturday 23rd June, the ticket sales alone raised over £10,000.  Our hopes were, that on the night, the fantastic auction prizes, raffle items and other attractions helped to raise even more money and we weren’t disappointed – we exceeded our original target of £25k, with the raffle and auction prizes, the total came to a whopping £30,348.

And on top of that, we had a great night with some great people.  It was fantastic to see lots of familiar faces and a few new faces helping us make this a success.”

Emma from Alex’s Wish was really pleased with the event, she commented on the ball saying:

“£30,000 is the biggest amount that has been donated to us from an event not run by Alex’s Wish. The amount raised comes at a fantastic time for us, it was only last week that some really promising news has come through on gene therapy development for boys that have Duchenne. This money is going to help promising new treatment for all children and young adults affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

We would like to thank Stefan and the Furnley House team for coming up with the idea of the Summer Ball to support Alex’s wish – raising such an incredible amount is wonderful news for us. Thank you to everyone that came along and donated so generously – it will all help to help save children’s lives.

We look forward to continuing our work with Furnley House over the coming months.”

Emma and Alex from Alex’s wish created a little thank you video for everyone that helped and attended the ball, click here to watch the video or copy and paste this link into your browser:
