Staff Raising Money Towards Alex’s Wish

May 03, 2018 - Reena Patel

Since announcing Alex’s Wish as our chosen charity, many of our staff have been busy finding inventive and creative ways to raise funds for this fantastic cause.

The Furnley House Summer Ball

With all staff involved, our big event is the Furnley House Summer Ball which takes place on Saturday 23rd June at Winstanley House in Leicester.

It is shaping up to be a fantastic evening with some exciting entertainment already arranged. You can find out more and buy tickets here.

Food Glorious Food…

Lauren spotted the opportunity to appeal to the many sweet-toothed staff at the Leicester Office and has started a ‘tuck-shop’.  Proceeds have been reinvested and the choice (along with the waist-lines of some of the more frequent visitors) have expanded.

Seeing a food-related theme, Aarti offered to make up individual curry meals for the team.  These were very popular, and she has subsequently continued with her culinary efforts and has cooked breakfast wholemeal wraps for the office. Between the two ladies they have contributed over £120 to date.

Moving away from food, Ann has raised over £100 by selling home-made birthday cards to staff, friends and family.  It took only 10 days from the cards being made available to completely selling out!

Our Very Own Action Man

George, Furnley House’s very own ‘Action Man’, recently completed a half-Iron Man event in Marbella.

Despite being the wrong side of 50 years old, George achieved a fantastic time of just under 6 hours and 40 minutes.  One would think George’s fitness regime would prevent him from indulging in the Tuck Shop, but…

Donations are still coming in for George’s herculean effort, but he has already raised around £700.  This photo shows part of the route for the bike segment of the event.

Well done to all our staff, we’re really proud how they are getting involved and truly embracing our values.
