Our Independent Financial Advisers

An Independent Financial Adviser or IFA is someone who’s professionally qualified to give unbiased guidance on financial matters and recommend suitable financial products from the whole of the market. In 2013 new rules were introduced, setting more stringent requirements for the profession and helping to make sure that all IFAs are properly qualified and in a position to offer truly independent advice.

Neil Haley

Neil Haley | Financial Planner | Senior Partner

Neil has been a Financial Adviser since 1994 providing advice for both private and business clients.

Together with Stefan Fura and John Woolhouse, Neil helped create Furnley House in 2012. Neil believes that the key to successful advice is to establish a trusting relationship with clients over the long term.

In addition to investment and pension planning, Neil specialises in advising the elderly and vulnerable and is an accredited member of SOLLA (Society Of Later Life Advisers). Neil has also achieved Pension Transfer Gold Standard, a voluntary code of good practice for safeguarded and defined benefit transfer advice.

John Woolhouse

John Woolhouse | Financial Planner | Senior Partner

John became a financial adviser in 2000 and for over 10 years enjoyed significant success in two High Street Banks.

John came to realise that offering independent advice offered his clients greater choices and options which should result in a better outcome.

Together with Stefan Fura and Neil Haley, John helped create Furnley House in 2012.

His aim is to offer clients a thoroughly professional and highly tailored service that puts them in a much better financial position.

George Simpson

George Simpson | Financial Planner | Senior Partner

George has been a Financial Adviser since the late 1980’s after leaving the military and joined Furnley House in 2014.

George has many long-standing and loyal clients but also enjoys the opportunity of helping new clients, predominantly with pension, investment and tax-planning. George is a great believer in helping clients to plan their financial future and, with his ongoing support and advice, to realise those aspirations.

Steve Collier

Steve Collier | Financial Planner

After over 20 years as a financial adviser at a High Street Bank, Steve joined the Furnley House team in 2016.

Working alongside George Simpson, Steve provides advice for clients in the West Midlands. Steve is relishing the prospect of now being able to provide proper independent advice to his clients - and is delighted that he is in a position to offer a valuable ongoing advice service to help clients achieve their financial plans.

Paul Fazackerley | Financial Planner

Paul Fazackerley started his Banking career in 2004, becoming a financial adviser in 2008 dealing with both personal and business clients.

Whilst he is based in Northamptonshire, Paul has clients across the country.

Paul joined Furnley House in 2016 and has embraced the opportunity of offering impartial whole of market advice to his clients.

Matt Hughes | Financial Planner

Having achieved Chartered Associate status with the London Institute of Banking and Finance, Matt is proud to be able to help more clients achieve their financial goals as a Financial Planner.

Paul Hubbert | Financial Planner

Paul has over twenty years’ experience in Financial Advice and has previously worked for both retail and private banks.

Joining the Furnley House team in 2020, Paul’s focus is very much on clients and helping them achieve and maintain their financial goals. He finds helping people very rewarding.

Outside of work, Paul can often be found cooking, keeping fit or cheering the Leicester Tigers.

Karl Jones | Financial Planner

Joining the team as a Financial Planner in 2021, Karl is responsible for helping people achieve their goals. Karl’s proud to provide a great customer experience and is continuously looking for ways to deepen his knowledge.

Day to day, he works to make sure that clients needs are met and to deliver a first-class service. Karl searches the whole of market and ensure his clients are getting the best solution for their financial needs.

Jeremy Smith | Self-Employed Financial Planner

Jeremy spent 25 years advising UK institutional clients in UK equities prior to qualifying as a financial adviser in 2014.

Jeremy’s clients are largely South-East and London based, with a focus on those in the financial services industry.

His focus is on pension advice and the cash flow planning needed as clients reach retirement.

With considerable experience in management and support functions, Marie is responsible for the oversight and supervision of the team.

Megan joined Furnley House in 2017 as an Administrator and is also completing an apprenticeship to become a Financial Adviser, her current role is a Client Relationship Manager who owns the client relationship and is a key point of contact for new clients.

Sam joined Furnley House in 2016 as a Receptionist answering incoming telephone calls and greeting guests visiting the Leicester Office.

An experienced Paraplanner, Emma uses her knowledge and skills to help with bespoke and complex cases.

Emma is Diploma qualified with an advanced qualification in Pensions.

Emma offers invaluable training and support in developing other administration staff in the business.

Jean Paul Betancourt Paz | Paraplanner

Jean Paul supports the Financial Planners to deliver a great service and advice to clients by creating research and advice reports. He has worked in Financial Services for over 8 years.

Jean Paul loves cooking, mainly because you get to eat at the end! He also enjoys football and Scuba Diving.

Wasif Kamal | Client Relationship Manager

As a Client Relationship Manager, Wasif is a key point of contact for clients. He also supports the advisers with preparing reports and recommendations.

He’s previously worked as part of a financial strategies team and has a Degree in Economics.

Rosie Haley | Financial Administrator

Jon Kirby | Client Relationship Manager

Currently working as a Client Relationship Manager, Jon supports both clients and the Furnley House team. He’s training to become a Financial Adviser so he can help even more people to lead better lives.
Having previously worked in a retail bank for over 10 years, Jon has also gained his Diploma in Financial Advice Level 4 as well as CeMAP accreditation and Cert RCBC.

Paul Marriott | Compliance Manager

Paul has worked in the Financial Services Industry for over 20 years in various roles for established brands like HSBC, Lloyds and Wesleyan. He has valuable experience as an IFA and a business mentor so fully understands the entire financial advice process. For the last few years, Paul has been working in Compliance roles and his understanding of the advice process is a huge benefit for the companies he’s worked for.
Paul joined Furnley House in 2018 and his wealth of knowledge and experience will be invaluable to the growing, ambitious company.

Damian Ferguson | Finance Director

Damian is our Finance Director and manages our finances.

Stefan Fura | Founder

Together with Neil Haley and John Woolhouse, Stefan is a founding partner of Furnley House.

He started his career in financial services working in a High Street Bank, but as his knowledge and experience grew, Stefan realised that he could offer his clients a better service if he were not tied to a limited number of specific providers. Then as Furnley House expanded, Stefan stepped away from advising clients to focus on running the business.

Stefan takes an active part in developing the future of the Financial Services industry, with the trade press often seeking his opinion.

Helen Ibbotson | Marketing Co-ordinator

Part of the Marketing team, Helen initially worked at Furnley House in 2016 for a placement year from Loughborough University. After finishing her degree and gaining more experience, she re-joined the team in June 2020.

Tara Bailiss | Office Manager

As the office manager, Tara is responsible for keeping everything running smoothly by looking after HR and acting as an Executive Assistant.

Tara’s organisation skills are second to none and she’s previously had experience running events for thousands of attendees all over the world.

Heather Watton | Group Accountant

Heather is responsible for the day to day running of the finance department, looking after various aspects such as Management Accounts, payment runs, Cost Centre Reporting, VAT returns and any other ad hoc finance duties.

With nearly 10 years’ overall experience in finance, Heather has spent the last 7 years working in the IFA/Financial Services Industry.

She’s AAT Qualified and currently studying towards being fully CIMA Qualified.
